ARTICLE I. CLUB NAME

Section 1. The name of this club is Medical Students for Choice—Touro University (MSFC TU).

ARTICLE II. CHAPTER GOALS

Section 1. The mission statement of MSFC TU is to increase education, awareness, and open discussion regarding issues of reproductive health and to support those within the medical community who are working to ensure the freedom of choice.

Section 2. Towards this mission statement MSFC TU shall strive to:
1. encourage the teaching of reproductive health care.
2. augment medical education at Touro University with additional information about reproductive healthcare.
3. promote equal access to reproductive healthcare.
4. provide community service activities that promote reproductive healthcare choices within the local community.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERS

Section 1. Membership is open to all members of the Touro University community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The number of members shall not be limited.

ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS AND DUTIES

Section 1. The MSFC TU Board of Officers will include a President, Vice President, Vice President of Communication, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Community Outreach.

Section 2. Duties
1. The duties of the President are to preside over club meetings, serve as a liaison between MSFC TU and the SGA (which includes ensuring accurate club records, including membership roster, monthly budget reports, club events calendar, and club charter), attend the SGA student council meetings (or assign a representative in accordance with SGA regulations), and serve as a liaison between the national organization of Medical Students for Choice and the Touro University chapter.
2. The duties of the Vice President are to preside over club meetings in the President’s absence, co-ordinate seminars, update the Faculty Advisor on group activities, and to assist the President as necessary to ensure the club runs effectively.
3. The duties of the Vice President of Communication are to keep an accurate record of meetings, inform club members of pertinent data from said meetings, maintain an up-to-date membership roster, and inform the SGA of membership or leadership changes within the club.
4. The duties of the Vice President of Finance are to keep an accurate record of the club’s funds and report these to the SGA, request funds for organization activities, and help organize club fundraising activities.
5. The duties of the Vice President of Community Outreach are to organize the club’s community service activities, club events calendar, and help organize fundraising activities.

ARTICLE V. MEETINGS

Section 1. MSFC TU shall meet at least once per semester, as decided by the standing Board of Officers.

ARTICLE VI. COMMITTEES

Section 1. Committees will be formed for specific projects as determined by the club members. Membership on a committee shall be open to all club members. These committees will be formed and serve as directed by the President. Committee chairs will be assigned as needed.

ARTICLE VII. DUES

Section 1. At this time no dues will be levied toward the members of the club. A simple majority vote of club members can implement dues on a one time basis, subject to annual review.

ARTICLE VIII. VOTING

Section 1. Voting will be limited to lawful members of the club as defined in this charter. All matters shall be decided by a simple majority vote of those present, provided that every attempt has been made to ensure the widest participation. The President shall not be allowed to vote, except in order to break a tie in voting.

ARTICLE IX. ELECTIONS

Section 1. Election of Officers
1. Officer elections will be held on an annual basis during the spring semester no later than a month prior to the end of the semester.
2. Students will nominate themselves for office with a statement including their qualifications for the position.
3. Elections will be held by voice vote at an organization meeting, or as decided by the standing President of the club.

ARTICLE X: REMOVAL

Section 1. Any officer elected or appointed may be removed if dereliction of responsibilities and conduct unbecoming of the officer has been determined.

ARTICLE XI: NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT

Section 1. All students committed to including issues of reproductive choice in medical education will be welcome to participate in the club, regardless of gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, country of origin, or other demographic factors.
